It had pond water and silty mud inside the motor and gearbox, but I dried them out as best as I could, sprayed everything with WD40 and put all the parts behind the wood stove for 3 days. I Even took the battery pack apart and did the same. Today, I put everything back together, charged the battery and snapped it on the drill. \ud83d\ude32 I T W O R K S ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I had 2 Black and Decker 18 volt drills for years . When the batteries finally gave out I decided to live the dream and splurge for a Dewalt . I like the tool overall except the chuck . You cannot drill 2 holes without the chuck loosening off and the bit falling out . Same problem with any attachment or bit . So far I am very disappointed and have no plans on purchasing any yellow tools in the future . They shipped it and the shipping company they used lost it. I've been a handyman for 20+ yrs, have primarily used Ryobi and corded black & decker and skil tools. Honestly, my only complaint about Ryobi is battery life. I recently decided to buy new tools due to needing a strong impact driver. What an ordeal! In the past week, I have bought and returned Makita, Milwaukee M18 Fuel, and RIDGED tools for various reasons, the Makita too small, RIDGID had stupid light switch in grip, and Milwaukee because of electronic touch speed switch. I hate lights on my tools, and sensitive electronics have no business on tools that get used. Dewalt was the very last brand I considered, as every contractor I know complains about Dewalt breaking, bad batteries, etc. Most have switched to other brands. So I needed a random orbital sander cause I am redoing my kitchen cabinets and I also bought a wet\/dry vacuum and thought while I am sure there is a adapter for the sander that I can attach to the vacuum. While there is one and from what I read you need a new vacuum hose for it to work. So here I am unable to attach it to my wet\/dry vacuum and to make it worse it is a rigid with 1 7\/8 hose so there is no way I can get this to attach to a vacuum thanks DeWalt. I had 2 Black and Decker 18 volt drills for years . When the batteries finally gave out I decided to live the dream and splurge for a Dewalt . I like the tool overall except the chuck . You cannot drill 2 holes without the chuck loosening off and the bit falling out . Same problem with any attachment or bit . So far I am very disappointed and have no plans on purchasing any yellow tools in the future .
